A Legend Retires

After 6 years of service, countless miles driven, and over 1,000,000 meals delivered, our dear friend and team member Doug Hopwood will be retiring. His last day with Meals on Wheels will be the Extra Give Fri 11/21! Doug has built a legacy that will keep rolling for years to come. His kindness, humor, and unwavering commitment have shaped Meals on Wheels of Lancaster in more ways than we can count.

Volunteers are our lifeline at MOW. We simply would not be able to do the important, necessary and great work we do without you. My deepest appreciation and admiration to all of you for giving and giving, of your time, talents and treasures with us. As Helen Keller said, ‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.’ Peace and love to all.” –Doug Hopwood

We are honored to have worked alongside a legend like you, Doug, and we couldn’t let you roll into retirement without a proper send-off!

To honor his incredible impact, we are raising the bar for Extra Give to $125,000 and plan to send him off with a Funky Friday reception!

Funky Friday Reception
Location: 1411 Columbia Ave
Time: 1 PM to 3 PM
Attire: Tie Dye

Please join us. Come to share a story, a laugh, or a simple note of gratitude and help us send Doug off with full hearts in celebration of the legacy he leaves behind. Click here to leave a note for Doug on our Kudoboard.

If you can’t make our Funky Friday Reception, you can still catch us later that evening at 551 West from 6–8 PM for raffles, trivia, giving stations, and plenty of camaraderie as we celebrate community and giving together.

Thank you, Doug, for helping us build a community that never stops caring — and for keeping the wheels turning all these years.
