Line Cook – Part time
2-3 Days/Week from 5 AM to 1 PM
$16 per hour
Job Description – Overview
We are looking for one or two skilled line cooks to join our team, focusing on preparing and producing meals for distribution while ensuring strict adherence to food safety protocols. These part-time positions will work under the guidance of the Kitchen Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Food Preparation
- Prepares all food items required on prep list, ensuring timely completion of tasks and proper labeling of perishable goods according to food safety protocols. Oversees the prep schedule including the oversight of volunteers to prepare and assemble meals. Provides guidance and assists with portioning tasks as needed. Oversees the preparation for and production of special diet meals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to dietary requirements.
- Ensure proper rotation of all products and keep inventory updated regularly.
- Meal Service
- Prepares the serving line to ensure there are adequate portions of foods and packaging materials.
- Oversee and works on the serving line ensuring that meals and portion sizes are correct.
- Deliver congregate meal service to Moravian Adult Day Center each day and return bins/containers to Lancaster General Hospital in a timely, professional manner.
- Food Safety & Cleanliness
- Ensures that all food & safety regulations are followed and reports any accidents, hazardous equipment, or conditions immediately to the Kitchen Manager.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment & general work area—including sweep, mop, and ensure trash and recycling are taken to appropriate receptacles at the end of the day.
- Ensure all tasks are completed on time, demonstrating effective time management and adherence to schedules.
- All other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- ServSafe Certification is required at the time of hire or within the first 90 days of employment.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented person who can work independently and with minor supervision.
- Must be able to work with individuals of varying skills & experience levels (adults with disabilities, senior citizens, for example).
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be familiar with general kitchen operations as basics (like knife skills and use of slicers) will not be taught.
- Must be able to stand for the majority of the shift, lift 50lbs, and bend at the waist.
- Must produce a valid Driver’s License.
